Rev. Dr. Aaron Tang
I was born and raised in Hong Kong. I came to faith in Christ during my first year of university and, after graduation, began teaching at a secondary school. During that time, I received God’s call to full-time ministry.
In 1986, my wife, our eldest son, and I immigrated to Vancouver, Canada, where I studied at Regent College and earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1989. I then served for five years as pastor of the Chinese Christian Church of Vancouver, putting into practice what I had learned. In 1994, our family moved to Ottawa, where I served as Senior Pastor at Emmanuel Alliance Church for fifteen years. During my pastoral ministry, I pursued further studies at Fuller Theological Seminary in the U.S. and received my Doctor of Ministry degree in 2008.
In 2010, my wife and I settled in Toronto, where I served as General Secretary of Christian Communication Inc. of Canada. In 2014, I was appointed Executive Director of the Canadian Chinese Alliance Churches Association, a role I held until my retirement in 2023. Afterward, I continued serving the Kingdom as Volunteer General Secretary of the Chinese Alliance World Fellowship.
In 2025, we returned to Vancouver with gratitude and joy to join the team at CCST Vancouver. I am deeply aware of the vital and weighty mission of theological education, especially in equipping a new generation of pastors and lay leaders. I look forward to advancing the ministry of CCST Vancouver throughout the Greater Vancouver area, across Canada, and even overseas—so that more believers may be nurtured and together help expand God’s Kingdom.
Mr. Raymond Leung
I was born in Hong Kong and moved to Canada at the age of 15. Growing up, I developed a strong passion for education and felt a clear calling from God to become a teacher. This calling eventually led me back to Hong Kong, where I pursued my dream of working in education.
After completing my studies, I became a teacher and spent over 10 years educating and mentoring students in Hong Kong. During this time, I experienced significant personal and spiritual growth, witnessing how God worked through me to impact the lives of others.
Later, I returned to Canada, where I am blessed to continue my work in education, albeit in a different capacity. As the Registrar at CCST Vancouver, I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to theological education and support students in both their academic and spiritual journeys.
Although I no longer teach in the classroom, I remain deeply thankful to God for allowing me to serve Him in the field of education. I find joy in helping others grow and thrive in their own callings, and I see my work as a way to honor God’s purpose for my life. I believe that theological education plays a vital role in equipping individuals to deepen their faith and effectively serve their communities. Helping students navigate their academic paths and seeing them flourish both spiritually and academically brings me a profound sense of fulfillment.
Ms. Janice Shu
I was born and raised in Hong Kong, a vibrant city that taught me the values of hard work, perseverance, and community. My faith journey began during my university years, a time when I encountered the gospel in a profound way. Since then, my faith has continued to grow, especially as I entered the workforce and learned to rely on God’s guidance in both my professional and personal life.
With over a decade of administrative experience in higher education, I joined CCST Vancouver in 2024 as the Associate Registrar. I am passionate about supporting students in their academic and spiritual journeys. I also enjoy teaching Bible classes for kids, where their enthusiasm and engagement always amaze me. Witnessing how God works in their young lives fills me with gratitude.
Theological education is transformative, shaping individuals to live out their faith in meaningful ways. At CCST Vancouver, I am privileged to serve in a role that integrates faith and professionalism, directly helping students fulfill their calling. I am deeply impressed by the emphasis on caring for pastoral well-being alongside the academic programs. This approach not only imparts the knowledge needed for ministry but also supports students in maintaining a healthy mindset for ministry. By addressing both the spiritual and emotional aspects of preparation, CCST Vancouver ensures that future leaders are well-equipped to sustain their calling and make a lasting impact in their communities.
I aim to use my administrative expertise to ensure smooth operations, allowing students and faculty to focus on teaching and learning.
Ms. Molly Yang
I am grateful to have grown up in a Christian family, which allowed me to know the God who created me from a young age. When facing various challenges in life, I was able to immediately turn to seek the Most High Lord, sparing me from many unnecessary struggles. I grew up at The Chinese Christian & Missionary Alliance College Church church, where my knowledge of the Bible and my heart for service were nurtured. During high school, I attended the Evangelical Free Church of China - Joy Church with friends, where I experienced significant breakthroughs in both my faith and service. It was also there that I met my husband, and together, we have served and grown in the church ever since.
"I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." (John 4:35) Since arriving in Vancouver, I have come to a deeper understanding of this verse. In Vancouver, I’ve met many new immigrants from Hong Kong. Due to changes in their living environment and culture, these individuals, who were once constantly busy working in Hong Kong, are now more open to connecting with others and have more time to engage. I have never seen people from Hong Kong so eager to learn about the church and faith. Similarly, the mainland Chinese students I’ve met in Vancouver are open to new experiences and even willing to engage with the church. This has made me realize the need for more Chinese pastors to connect with the vast Chinese immigrant community. I am therefore incredibly grateful for CCST Vancouver, which serves as a base for training Chinese pastors and equipping Chinese believers. I hope that together, we can reach and harvest more souls for the Lord!
Over the past ten years, I have worked in administrative roles in business organizations, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations. While each of these experiences has had its enjoyable and interesting aspects, I often felt a sense of emptiness after some time. I questioned why I should spend my energy on things that lack eternal value or, in a broader sense, do not truly help others. I now hope to focus my efforts on something that holds real meaning. Although my ten years of work experience are still relatively young, I am willing to follow the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 25; Even if I am just the servant who receives one thousand or even just ten dollars, I will strive to use the experiences and abilities I have to become a good and faithful servant in the eyes of Jesus.
Ms. Betty Sze
Born in Hong Kong, I began my faith journey during my high school years. Over a decade ago, while working at the Association of Canadian Chinese Theological Education in Toronto, I connected with CCST Vancouver, and I am now blessed to be part of its mission. I bring my extensive experience in nonprofit management and development to CCST Vancouver. Outside of my professional life, I have a deep passion for art and music. I also enjoy skiing with my husband, cherishing the breathtaking views from the snowy mountain peaks—moments that inspire me to lift my heart in praise of God, the Creator.
Sarah Qi
I was born in Shandong, China, and was the first Christian in my family. From a young age, I often pondered the meaning and direction of life. Even before I heard the gospel, God, in His marvelous mercy, personally guided me to seek the Creator of life, and eventually led me into His church.
The journey of faith has not been smooth. I have chased after achievements in times of success and been reshaped by God in times of brokenness. From the moment He began His work in me, His hand has continued to touch and bless my family, transforming us into a Christ-centered home growing in His love. Together with my husband, I serve in our church by leading fellowship groups, teaching children’s Sunday school, and helping at marriage retreats.
In moments of brokenness and renewal, I’ve come to realize that the darker the times, the more the world needs light; the more chaotic the world becomes, the more urgent the gospel’s call. Step by step, God has expanded the scope of my ministry and deepened my understanding of His heart. Today, I serve in the admissions ministry at the Canadian Chinese School of Theology, walking alongside brothers and sisters who have been called by God and desire to be equipped, helping them find their path to seminary and continue growing along the way.
I deeply believe that every life responding to God’s call deserves to be listened to with gentleness and accompanied with patience. My prayer is that, through this journey of service, I may be a vessel of God’s grace and a witness to His light shining in more people’s lives.
Ms. Shirley Chan
I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of theological education at CCST Vancouver. What excites me most is the chance to help build up the next generation of leaders and pastors by drawing on the experiences and knowledge of faith pioneers and predecessors. My goal is to assist students in deepening and broadening their understanding of the truth and the God we worship. I have particularly felt the important role the library plays in this process, offering rich resources to both students and faculty, helping them advance in their theological studies and spiritual growth.
Having worked with books for many years, I have gained valuable experience, especially in book management, selection, and assisting students in finding the resources they need. I am delighted to bring this experience to CCST Vancouver, supporting students' learning while continually expanding and improving the collection and related systems to better meet the needs of faculty and students. In this role, I feel I am not just managing books, but safeguarding and passing down the faith treasures of different generations.
Joining CCST Vancouver is also a part of my own spiritual growth. I look forward to growing alongside my coworkers in this Christ-centered environment, witnessing the proclamation of the Gospel throughout the ages, and being continually renewed by God's Word. I am eager to humbly learn new skills, broaden my perspective, and, through concrete actions and service, dedicate my gifts to this ministry.
